Lady Wildcats Finish 13th in City Auto Memphis Twilight Classic

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Bethel University Lady Wildcat Cross Country team competed in the City Auto Memphis Twilight Classic Saturday night. The Lady Cats finished 13th out of 21 teams competing in the annual event.

Senior Andrea De La Rosa led the way with a 17th place finish and a time of 19:09. She was followed by freshman Monserrat Serrano with a time of 20:10. Junior Cecillia Tellez came in 118th with a time of 21:50. Kayla Bennett, Mackenzie Bennett, Allie Chappell and Hailey Wallace rounded out the top seven for the Lady Cats.

One hundred and eighty-one runners competed.

Coach Brandon Kilburn commented, "I am very proud of the effort to start the season. This is a large race with a large amount of spectators so it's really easy to get overwhelmed. I thought we handled ourselves very well and competed strongly. This is race one and we have a long way to go but we are happy with the start and look forward to getting back to work. "
