Bethel University Name, Image and Likeness for Student-Athletes Updated: 7/20/2023

This document will serve as Bethel University athletics’ policies pertaining to the Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) for all BU student-athletes. All Bethel student-athletes that have agreed with a third-party to be compensated for their NIL must complete the Name, Image, and Likeness form at the following link. https://www.naia.org/membership/nil-submit-details

Any form of payment or remuneration is considered compensation. Bethel student-athletes may not use any Bethel University trademarks (including logos, team and College names, mascot or any copyrighted content) when receiving compensation from a third-party without prior permission from the Bethel University athletics department.

Bethel student-athletes are not permitted to enter into any NIL agreements for the following entities that involves or promotes: - Sports Wagering - Alcohol and tobacco - Adult entertainment - Other higher education institutions and their related services BU student-athletes may not miss any academic responsibilities or team activities to participate in any activities revolving around the student-athletes’ participation involving compensation for NIL.

 Failure to follow the rules stated in this document may result in a suspension of athletic scholarship, suspension from team activities, or dismissal from the athletic program. Bethel international student-athletes should not enter into any compensation agreement without first ensuring it complies with Visa and immigration requirements.

Bethel student-athletes should understand that a NIL agreement may impact their Pell grant and/or other financial aid. Questions regarding aid should be directed to the Bethel University financial aid office.
