Mid-South Conference Women’s Volleyball Season Awards Announced

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - The Mid-South Conference announced its 2023 women's volleyball All-MSC teams and honors on Wednesday.

Cumberlands' (Ky.) Allyson Grava was named the MSC Women's Volleyball Player of the Year by the conference coaches while teammate Juliet Banks earned Defender of the Year honors. Campbellsville's (Ky.) Camryn Rich was selected as the Setter of the Year. Cumberlands' Sara Zampedri was named the MSC Freshman of the Year. Cumberlands' Kathryn Park was named the Coach of the Year while Cumberland's (Tenn.) Samantha Young earned Assistant Coach of the Year honors.

The conference coaches voted on the yearly awards along with the all-conference teams. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own players.

Grava has 403 kills while averaging 3.9 kills per set. Her 3.91 kills per set lead the conference while her 403 kills rank second in the MSC. Grava is hitting .220 on the season which ranks fifth in the conference. She has also recorded 263 digs this season.

Banks has recorded 541 digs this season which ranks second in the conference while her 4.6 digs per set lead the MSC.

Rich ranks second in the conference with 1,022 and is also second averaging 9.6 assists per set. Her total assists rank 23rd in the NAIA while her assists per set are 30th in the nation.

Zampedri has totaled 413 kills in her freshman season with the Patriots. She averages 3.4 kills per set while hitting .226. Zampedri's total kills lead the conference and rank 17th in the NAIA while her kills per set rank second in the MSC.

Park led the Patriots to a 21-10 overall record and a 9-3 mark in conference play to earn the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament.

Young helped lead the Phoenix to a 19-17 record and the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament with an 8-4 record in the MSC.  

Fourteen players were selected to both the first and second all-conference teams.
