Recap- Day 2 of the Mid-South Conference Championships
KINGSPORT, Tenn. - The Bethel University Swim Team competed on day two of the Mid-South Swimming and Diving Conference in Kingsport, TN Friday. Competing teams included: Campbellsville University, Indiana Wesleyan University, Lindsey Wilson College, Midway University, Shawnee State University and the University of the Cumberlands.
Day two again displayed some stellar results for the men's team. Artem Dzun swam a personal best in the 100 Yard Fly, taking 3rd in 49.2. Martin Sener also swam a personal best in the 100 Yard Backstroke, finishing 5th with 51.79 and breaking the previous school record of 52.93. Akram Nejjar took 9th in the 200 Free, Eric Edwards was 16th in the 100 Yard Breaststroke, Adam Peeden finished 14th in the 100 Yard Backstroke, and Eric Lane was 16th in 100 Yard Backstroke. The men's relay team of Sener, Loboda, Dzun, and Edwards took 3rd in the 200 Yard Medley Relay, swimming a 1:35.30 and breaking the previous school record of 1:36.98. The men's team of Edwards, Peeden, Lane, and Nejjar finished 5th in the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay.
On the women's side, Clara Bjorkegren finished 12th in the 200 Free, Fanni Kovacs was 13th in the 100 Yard Breaststroke, Sofia Nascimento Tricoli took 15th in the 100 Yard Back, and the women's relay team of Tricoli, Kovacs, Bjorkegren and Ranero finished 6th in the 200 Yard Medley Relay.
Coach Kirsten Sass said, "Day two continued to show excellent results and strong efforts by the team. With the final day ahead, we plan to continue to put our training to the test and see where we stand."
