
Late Surge Not Enough as Lady Cats Fall at Thomas More
CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – The (RV) Bethel Lady Wildcats lost their third straight match with a 4-3 loss at Thomas More Wednesday afternoon in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
The teams were even with four shots and two shots on goal in the first period but the Saints scored on both of their attempts and led 2-nil at the break.
Thomas More scored two more goals in the second period to take what appeared to be a commanding 4-0 lead. The last 15 minutes of the game saw Bethel mount a huge comeback however.
Ainhoa Chirivella scored on an assist by Nathalie Rojas at the 81:32 mark. Two minutes later, Rojas scored to make it 4-2. With eight minutes remaining, Johanna Veldhuizen scored and the Cats trailed 4-3. The Saints held on and won moving to 8-2-2 overall and 3-2 in the MSC. Bethel dropped to 5-4-2 and 1-3-1.
Bethel had an 11-10 margin in shots and a 7-5 advantage in shots on goal. The Wildcats held a 6-5 margin in corner kicks.
Bethel returns to action next Wednesday playing host to Georgetown at 5 p.m.
