Lady Soccer Cats Win 2nd in a Row with Victory at SSU
PORTSMOUTH, OH – After exploding for 14 goals in a 14-0 rout at Pikeville Thursday the Bethel Lady Wildcats used solid defense and timely scoring in their 2-0 win at Shawnee State Saturday in Portsmouth, Ohio.
The first period proved to be a defensive gem for both squads.
Bethel broke through on an unassisted goal by Sacha-Gay Brown at the 55:27 mark of the second. Thirteen minutes later the Lady Cats added an insurance goal by Elvira Martin. Ainhoa Chirivella was credited with the assist.
Bethel had a 13-6 advantage in shots and a 7-3 margin in shots on goal. Bethel's Shanay Ricketts was big in net with three key saves.
Bethel improved to 5-9-0 overall and 3 -7-0 in the MSC. The Bears fell to 6-11-0 and 2-8-0.
Bethel leads the all-time series at 2-0.
The Lady Cats are back in action Tuesday facing Freed-Hardeman at 4 p.m. in Jackson. The match will be played at University School Jackson.
