Lady Cats Suffer Home Loss to No. 3 Campbellsville

MCKENZIE, Tenn. - The Bethel Lady Wildcats returned to action Thursday hosting No. 3 Campbellsville. The Tigers prevailed 71-49 to move to 23-1 overall and 10-0. Bethel dropped to 13-12 and   0-9. Bethel fell to 166-36 all-time in Crisp Arena.

A nine-point unanswered run to close out the first half propelled Campbellsville to a 39-25 lead at the break. The Wildcats cut the deficit to single digits at one point in the third quarter, but the Tigers answered and led 56-41 at the end of three.

Turnovers were the undoing of Bethel in the game. The Cats committed 22 and Campbellsville had a 21-9 advantage in points off turnovers.

Campbellsville got off to a slow start from the floor missing nine of their first ten shots but finished shooting 49 percent from the field. Bethel shot 34 percent from the floor. Both teams hit five three-pointers. The Wildcats were 10-of- 13 from the foul line. The Tigers were just 14-of-23 from the line. Bethel had a 34-27 margin in rebounding.

Lauren Lee led Campbellsville with a game high 22 points. Kaitlynn Wilks followed with 11 points.  Madison Hart led Bethel with 11 points and a game high 11 rebounds.

Coach Chris Nelson commented, "Turnovers hurt us no doubt. I thought our ladies hung in there, but we are still missing Kalynn Howard at the point. We will continue to press forward and feel we can still win some games as we close out the regular season. I still like my team and we will continue to work hard."

The Lady Wildcats host Cumberland University Saturday at 1 p.m. Cumberland upset No. 23 Freed-Hardeman 57-44 Thursday night.
