Lady Cats Win 9th Straight with Win over Harris-Stowe

MCKENZIE, Tenn. – After beating the Bellevue Bruins Friday night in a hard fought 56-47 battle on the opening night of the Holiday Classic, the (RV) Bethel Lady Wildcats had a much easier win Saturday beating the Harris-Stowe Hornets 77-37.

The win was Bethel's ninth straight victory.

For the second night in a row, it was Bethel's defense which played a key role in the win. Harris-Stowe shot just 23 percent from the floor. The Hornets were 0-of-10 on three-point attempts.

The Cats led 41-11 at halftime.

The Lady Cats shot 39 percent from the field and hit ten threes. Bethel was 21-of-29 from the free throw line. Bethel's bench was huge with a 44-11 advantage in the game. Fourteen different players scored for Bethel. The Cats won the battle of the boards with a 43-28 margin.

Kalynn Howard knocked down four three-pointers and led Bethel with 15 points. Alyia Lee had 12 points and five rebounds. Kyla Taylor had a game high of 11 rebounds for Bethel.

Bethel improved to 9-2 while Harris-Stowe dropped to 2-5.

Coach Chris Nelson spoke about the Classic and the win. "Today was a good finish to the Holiday Classic. We had some really good teams and good coaches here on campus this weekend. We had an opportunity to work with some different line ups today and really liked what we were able to see from some different players. We have some big games coming up and hopefully we can keep improving and stay focused on the process of getting better."  

The Cats remain at home hosting Brescia Tuesday night with tip-off at 6 p.m.
