Lady Wildcats Use Balance to Beat Fisk

MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Lady Wildcats captured their first win Thursday night beating the Fisk University Bulldogs 70-46 in the Annual Carroll County Chamber of Commerce Classic.

The Lady Cats led 18-15 after the first quarter but outscored the Nashville visitors 21-6 in the second quarter to lead 39-21 at the half.

The Cats led by as many as 31points with eight minutes left and cruised to the victory.

Freshman Kylie Reynolds continues to sparkle with a team high of 18 points. The former McKenzie Rebel also had six rebounds. Madison Hart had 14 points while junior Kalynn Howard had 11 points and a game high seven assists. Howard has 21 assists in Bethel's three games.

The Wildcats knocked down nine three-pointers in the game.

Bethel moved to 1-2 on the year while Fisk fell to 0-1.

Coach Chris Nelson felt balance was a big key. 'It was good to get the first win under our belt. I thought we were able to execute better tonight and then adjusted when they went zone on us. Kylie hit some big shots for us that got us going but it was a balanced attack overall. We have some depth, but we are still figuring out our rotations and what's best for what the game is calling for. We are just trying to stay committed to getting better on a daily basis.

No. 1 Campbellsville beat Bluefield earlier in the evening 126-56.

Bethel meets Bluefield at 2 p.m. on Friday  to close out the classic. Campbellsville plays Fisk at noon.
