Lady Wildcats Win Third in a Row

MCKENZIE, Tenn. –The Bethel Lady Wildcats made it three wins in a row Monday night with a 97-55 victory over visiting Welch College. The Cats moved to 3-0 while Welch fell to 1-5 on the season. Bethel is 148-25 all-time in Crisp Arena.

Four Lady Wildcats finished in double figures. Alyia Lee had her third straight double-double, finishing with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Hours after being named MSC Player of the Week, freshman Madison Hart was on the cusp of a double-double with 20 points and nine rebounds. Hart also had three assists, two steals and two blocks. Keely Morris came off the bench with 14 points. Raegan Blackburn contributed with 10 points.

Bethel shot 46 percent from the floor and finished with an early season high 23 assists. Kalynn Howard had a game high five dimes.

The Wildcats had a 37-24 margin in rebounds and forced the Flames into 21 turnovers. They scored 24 points off those Welch mistakes. The Cats had a 46-20 advantage in points in the paint and a 27-2 margin in second chance points.

Macey Bowman had a game high 27 points for the Flames. Olivia Delk popped in 12 points and collected 10 rebounds for Welch.

Coach Chris Nelson stated, "I am proud of how we came out offensively and the chemistry we are forming but we have to start communicating and working harder on the defensive end. We are really excited about this bunch and feel like we have the pieces in every position to be successful, but we have to continue to develop and grow. Welch came in and played hard and made shots and forced us to make a few adjustments, but we also worked on some rotations. We are happy to get the win, but we will turn the page and get ready for a tough road challenge at Dillard."

Bethel returns to action Friday night traveling to New Orleans to face Dillard University. Tip-off time in the Crescent City is tabbed for 5:30 p.m.
