Lady Cats Host Cumberlands (KY) Thursday

MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The (RV)Bethel Lady Wildcats return home Thursday and Saturday to close out their regular season. They host the (RV) University of the Cumberlands Thursday and UPIKE Saturday.  Tip-off Thursday is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Bethel is 17-11 overall and 11-9 in Mid-South Conference. The Patriots are 18-10 and 12-8.

Bethel is 12-3 at home on the season and 143-24 all-time in Crisp Arena. 

 The teams met in Williamsburg on January 18 with UC winning 77-71.  Bethel played without starter Keely Morrow and key reserve Ashton Hulme.  Mickey Head missed the first quarter of the game.

CU led 22-18 at the end of one and had a 45-38 margin at the half. The Cats pulled to within one at 58-57 at the end of the third stanza. The Cats made a nice run and trailed 70-68 with three minutes left but the Pats held on for the six-point win.

Ryann Roberts led Bethel with a game high 22 points. Millie Bryant tossed in 15 while Jena Foust finished with 13 points. Kassie Monday led the Patriots with 21 points.

Bethel shot 41 percent from the floor and hit just 5-of-22 three-point attempts. The Cats hit 14-of 18 free throw tries. 

UC shot 47 percent and connected on 12-of-21 three-point attempts. The Pats knocked down 15 free throws on 25 tries.

UC had a 33-32 advantage in rebounds.

Bethel's Millie Bryant enters the game with 1,350 career points and 623 career rebounds. She is 8th in program history in scoring and 9th in career rebounds. Her eight points at UTS enabled her to move past former Bethel great Jackliann Street who had 1, 346 career points.   Earlier this season she became just the 10th Lady Cat to score 1,000 points or more and collect 500 rebounds or more

Mickey Head enters the contest with 875 career rebounds and 272 career blocks. She has 1, 260 career points with 777 of those as a Lady Wildcat.

Bethel is 16-1 when they outshoot their opponents.

The Cats are 16-3 when they hit more three-pointers.

The Lady Cats are 14-0 when they outrebound their opponents.

Bethel is 13-0 when leading at the half.

The Cats are 10-7 when they have less turnovers.

Bethel is 9 -2 when they score 70 or more points in a game.

Bethel's Chris Nelson is in his 16th year as head coach of the Wildcats. He has a record of 346-166 at the school. He is 15th in wins among active coaches in the NAIA.
