Bethel’s Shooting Action Team Captures Six National Titles
MCKENZIE, Tenn. - Leaving McKenzie with hopes of a national title became a reality for Bethel University over the weekend. Bethel University's Action Team traveled to the CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park in Talladega, Alabama to compete in the 2024 SASP College Nationals.
Bethel traveled to compete against the top colleges in the nation. The first day of competition the Action Team competed in centerfire pistol optic, pistol caliber carbine, and centerfire revolver in pouring rain and muddy conditions, but this didn't slow them down.
On the second day of competition the weather was a lot more forgiving. The Action team competed in 1911 and rimfire revolver in the morning flights, then switched to rimfire rifle irons and rimfire pistol optics in the afternoon. At the end of day two the Action Team was feeling good about their day and were one day closer to reaching their goals. After two grueling days of competition the Bethel Action team competed in rimfire rifle optics and rimfire pistol irons on the last morning. The team left everything on the range and did all they could to bring home the National titles. The award ceremony started off with awards for rimfire pistol optics, this set the tone for how the ceremony would go the rest of the day.
Bethel University is proud to have brought home the Paul J Pluff Rimfire Pistol Cup and the Tammy L Mowry Rifle Cup. These are traveling cups where one is awarded to the top rimfire pistol team and the other is the for the top rifle team in the nation. These cups will have Bethel University engraved on them.
The Team took home six National Titles and one 3rd place finish along with multiple individual awards.
