Caruthers Helps Lady Cats Split Doubleheader at FHU
HENDERSON, Tenn. - Bethel continued their weekend series at (RV) Freed-Hardeman Saturday.
The Lady Cats dropped both games of a doubleheader Friday losing 7-0 and 3-0.
The Lady Lions took game one Saturday, winning 8-1. FHU scored five runs in the first and outhit Bethel 9-6. The Lady Wildcats did not help their cause, committing four errors in the game. Bethel's lone run was a result of a Briley Auvenshine home run in the fourth inning. Lauren Reimsnyder suffered the Bethel loss.
In game two, Freed took a 1-0 lead, scoring a run in the bottom of the first. Hailey Cooner tied the game for Bethel with an RBI single in the second inning. The Cats took a 2-1 lead in the top of the sixth. Kinsley Caruthers drove in a run with a fielder's choice. Caruthers was the star of the game, going the distance with a seven-hitter and working out of several jams allowing the Cats to win 2-1.
Bethel moved to 13-25 overall and 4-16 in the league.
Freed Hardeman (RV) is 24-16 and 13-9.
Bethel travels to Blue Mountain Monday for a non-conference doubleheader which begins at 2 p.m.
