Bethel Runners Compete in Boston

BOSTON, Mass. – Bethel's Joseph Skoog and Stetson Childress competed in the Boston University Invitational Saturday.

Stetson ran the 1000-meter race and finished second in his heat with a time of 2:39. It was his first time running the event.

Joseph ran the 5K with a time of 14:15 running his personal best and the school 5K record. He also met the national standard and qualified for the NAIA National Championships in Brookings, South Dakota beginning on February 29th.

Coach Brandon Kilburn commented, "A few of the guys have wanted to go to this meet for a long time. It has the top runners in the nation at all levels of the NCAA and even some professional runners. They worked it out and were able to go and performed very well. I am glad they got to have this experience and proud of their effort. Joseph ran his fastest Indoor 5K ever and made the nationals. Stetson tried an event he has never competed in and performed very well. We will run again Friday in Birmingham before wrapping up this semester and taking a break before continuing our indoor season in January."
