Track Cats Tune Up Before MSC Indoor Championships

Samford Bulldog Open

Birmingham, AL-The Bethel University Track Cats went down to Birmingham, Alabama to the Samford Bulldog Open Invitational. The meet hosted many teams from all divisions, names such as University of Memphis, Gardner-Webb, Tennessee Tech and North Alabama. The Wildcats faced tough competition and hoisted many great performances.

Kaeli Sain started the day on the Women's side. Sain competed in the 60 meter dash finishing 16th place overall. Hailey Wallace competed in the mile for the Wildcats. Russia Pyle and Cecilia Tellez competed in the 800 meter run. Pyle ran a 2:39 and placed 36th overall, while Tellez ran a 2:41 and placed 41st overall. Wallace finished with a time of 6:14, which makes it her personal best in the indoor event.

On the Men's side, Joshua Cohill started the day off in the 60 Meter dash. Cohill finished with a time of 7.60 respectively. Freshman Kyrell Littleton competed in the 400 meter dash in a competitive field and finished with a time of 59.87. Competing in the 800 meters was Carson Warman running 2:03 and finishing 31st overall. Stetson Childress, Braden Wallace and Cedrion Cook all competed in the Men's one mile run. Leading the Cats was Stetson Childress with a 4:46 mile. Wallace finished with a time of 4:54 while Cook finished the race with a 4:57 mile. The 5,000 meter run finished the day up for the Wildcats. Benard Koech and Ariel Devoto competed in the event. Koech finished the race in 16:15 placing 16th overall. Devoto placed 20th with a time of 17:05.

Coach Kilburn had the following to say:

"I am proud of our efforts today. This was a great tune up meet heading into conference next week. We had some high level of competition here and I believe it made us a better team. These athletes have been working hard and their efforts will be proven in weeks to come."

The Track Cats will be back in action on Feb. 17th and 18th. They will be competing in the Mid-South Conference Indoor Conference Championships in Louisville, Kentucky.
