Mid-South Conference Men's Tennis Honors Announced

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -   The Mid-South Conference announced its 2024 men's tennis All-MSC teams and individual honors on Thursday.

Lindsey Wilson's Jan Silhavy was named MSC Men's Tennis Player of the Year while Jaume Barcelo earned MSC Freshman of the Year honors. Cumberlands' (Ky.) Chin Tan was voted the MSC Coach of the Year. Cumberland's Juan Diego Medina earned Assistant Coach of the Year honors.

Silhavy went 6-0 in singles play this season against conference competition with every victory coming at No. 1 singles. Silhavy went 7-3 in doubles play this season. He teamed up with Miquel Perez at No. 1 doubles compiling a 5-1 record.

Barcelo in his freshman campaign for the Blue Raiders went 4-2 in singles against conference competition with all six matches at No. 2 singles. Barcelo played in just three doubles matches going 1-2 overall and 1-1 at No. 2 doubles.

Tan led the Patriots to a 6-0 record in the MSC and the conference regular season championship.

Medina helped lead Cumberland to the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament with a 4-2 MSC record.

Silhavy and Barcelo highlight the seven-player first team all-conference list selected by the conference coaches. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own players. An additional seven were listed as second-team all-conference selections.

Bethel's Nafiralo Souleymane Ouattara was named to the second team.
