Mid-South Conference Announces 2023 Men’s Soccer Awards

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -  The 2023 Mid-South Conference Men's Soccer season awards have been released, conference officials announced on Tuesday.

Lindsey Wilson's Sebastian Tregarthen was named the MSC Player of the Year while Cumberlands' Bruno Garcia earned MSC Defensive Player of the Year honors. Cumberlands' Salvador Martinez was voted the MSC Freshman of the Year. Lindsey Wilson's Sicelo Buthelezi was voted the MSC Coach of the Year while Thomas Pazo earned Assistant Coach of the Year honors.

Conference coaches vote on the seasonal awards along with the all-conference teams. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own players.

Tregarthen has scored 10 goals this season with two assists for a total of 22 points. He has also scored three-game winning goals. Tregarthen's 10 goals rank second in the MSC.

Garcia is a part of a Patriots defense that has allowed 19 goals and just 1.4 goals per game. He has recorded four assists this season.

Martinez has scored 10 goals and tallied one assist in his freshman season for the Patriots. Eight of his 10 goals came in MSC play.

Buthelezi and Pazo led the Blue Raiders to an 11-2-3 record and a 4-0-2 record in the MSC to capture the MSC regular season title and be the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament.

11 players earned first team honors with 11 student-athletes earning a spot on to the second team.
