Men’s Soccer Closes Out Regular Season with Loss to Cumberland University-Finishes as 4th Seed

MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The No. 11 Bethel Wildcats closed out their regular season Tuesday night on Senior Night at Wildcat Stadium.

Norberto Lima Vieira, Nathan Hunter, Nicolas Ruiz, Joey Soriano, and Juan Noel, Alioune Diop and Jordan Dacy were saluted in pre-game ceremonies.

The Cats fell behind 2-nil after the first period. Cumberland took a 3-0 lead in the second period. A late goal by Bethel's Gregory Cousins helped the Wildcats avoid the shutout.

The Cats outshot the Phoenix 14-9, but CU had a 5-4 advantage in shots on goal.

Mid-South Conference Men's Soccer Tournament Bracket Released

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) is the top seed in the 2023 Mid-South Conference Men's Soccer Tournament, conference officials announced on Tuesday with the release of the tournament bracket.

The Blue Raiders earned the No. 1 seed after going 11-2-3 overall and 4-0-2 in the MSC and will host the tournament semifinals on Nov. 8 and the final on Nov. 10.

Cumberlands (Ky.) (6-2-5, 3-1-2 MSC) earned the No. 2 seed and will host No. 7 seed Georgetown (Ky.) (6-10, 0-6 MSC) on Nov. 4 at 6 p.m. CT. The Patriots defeated the Tigers 4-2 back on Oct. 13.

Cumberland (Tenn.) (9-4-3, 3-1-2 MSC) is seeded third and will host No. 6 seed Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) (7-8-2, 1-5 MSC) on Nov. 3 at 2:30 p.m. CT. The Phoenix picked up a 2-0 victory over the Lions back on Sept. 23.

Cumberlands and Cumberland both finished tied in the standings with 11 points. The two teams tied each other in the regular season so the next tiebreaker was used which is goal differential in conference games. Cumberlands earned the two seed due to having a +7 goal differential while Cumberland was +6.

Fourth-seeded Bethel (Tenn.) (12-3-1, 3-2-1 MSC) will host No. 5 seed Campbellsville (Ky.) (12-4-2, 3-2-1 MSC) on Nov. 4 at 2 p.m. CT. The two teams tied in 1-1 in the regular season back on Oct. 20

Bethel and Campbellsville were tied with 10 points. With the two teams tying in the regular season, the next tiebreaker of goal differential in conference play was used. Bethel earned the No. 4 seed having a +3 goal differential while Campbellsville's was +1.

 Lindsey Wilson awaits the Bethel/Campbellsville winner on Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. CT while the Cumberlands/Georgetown and Cumberland/Freed-Hardeman winners will play at 4 p.m. CT. The Tournament Final is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT on Nov. 10
