Wildcats Shut Out Brescia, 7-0

OWENSBORO, Ky. - The Bethel defense allowed only two shots on goal in the Wildcats' 7-0 shutout of the Brescia Bearcats on Thursday in Owensboro. Bethel improved to 2-0-1 with the win.

Junior Nathan Hunter and sophomore Sergio Baguena scored two goals each for Bethel. Isaac Stanley, Gregory Cousins and Adrian Musubi added one goal each. The goals by Hunter and Cousins were the first of their Bethel careers. Musubi (two) and Nicolas Ruiz recorded assists for the Wildcats.

For the match, Bethel had a 28-3 advantage in shots and 14-2 edge in shots on goal. Norberto Lima Vieira had one save for the Wildcats. Sebastian Rojas also logged minutes at goalkeeper.

Bethel struck first with a Nathan Hunter goal off an assist from Adrian Musubi in the 11th minute to lead 1-0.

Nathan Hunter scored his second goal of the match at the 22-minute mark off a pass from Nicolas Ruiz to put the Wildcats ahead 2-0.

Six minutes later, Isaac Stanley found the back of the net off Adrian Musubi's second assist. Stanley's goal capped the scoring for the first half, and Bethel led 3-0 at the intermission.

Sergio Baguena punched in his first goal of the match in the 60th minute to give the Wildcats a 4-0 advantage.

Bethel's next two goals came in a span of just under three minutes. Gregory Cousins scored at the 66-minute mark, followed by Adrian Musubi off a free kick in the 68th minute. The pair of tallies gave Bethel a 6-0 lead.

Sergio Baguena's second goal of the match, this time off a penalty kick in the 71st minute, finished the scoring for the Wildcats.

Coach Malang (J.J.) Jarju said after the win, "The result was much needed for us in preparation for the upcoming big games. We have been working on our attacking forces, and tonight we showed we can dominate games and score lots of goals."

Bethel returns home to host LSU Alexandria on Monday, Sept. 5. Game time for the Labor Day match is 1 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium.
