Cats Drop Heartbreaker to Lindsey Wilson in MSC Men’s Soccer Semifinals

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The 4th seeded Bethel Wildcats and the No. 1 seeded and 11th ranked Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders met in the MSC semifinals in Bowling Green Wednesday afternoon and as always between the two, it was another classic.

The Wildcat and Raiders were scoreless after regulation.

LWC had a 17-6 margin in shots during regulation and 5-1 advantage in shots on goal. The Cat defense was big time after time including five huge saves by 1st team all-conference goalkeeper Norberto Lima Vieira.

After two overtimes the teams went to a Penalty Kick Shootout. Despite goals by Pascal Mohungsi and Mountaga Sall, it wasn't enough as LWC won 4-2.

Lindsey Wilson finished with a 23-10 margin in shots and an 8-2 advantage in shots on goal. Vieira finished with seven saves.

Bethel dropped to 13-6-2 and will await to see if they receive an invitation to the national tournament. LWC advances to the title match at 13-2-1 and will play either the University of the Cumberlands or Cumberland University Friday in Bowling Green.

The tournament champion receives one of the conference's two automatic bids into the NAIA National Tournament. If Lindsey Wilson wins the tournament, the tournament's runner-up receives the second automatic bid.
