Cats Beat Bears in Pikeville

PIKEVILLE, Ky. – The Bethel Wildcats traveled to the Eastern Mountains of the Commonwealth Thursday to battle the Bears of UPIKE. The Cats scored four unanswered goals in the first period to take complete command of the contest. Bethel would go on to win 5-0.

Alphonso Gooden gave the Wildcats an early lead. The assist was credited to Mountaga Sall. Sergio Baguena scored the first of his three goals to give the Cats a 2-0 margin. Pascal Mohungsi had the assist. Mohungsi added Bethel's third goal a few minutes later. Baguena scored his second goal of the period to give the Wildcats the 4-0 margin.

Baguena added his third goal in the second and the Cats were on their way to move to 10-5-1 and 5-4- 0 in the MSC. The Bears dropped to 1-11-0 and 1-8-0.

Bethel's Alejandro Costales had five saves. Norberto Lima Vieira recorded two saves. Bethel had a 23-14 advantage in shots and a 13-7 margin in shots on goal.  

Bethel leads the series 1-0. 

The Wildcats move on to meet Shawnee State in Portsmouth Saturday at 2:30 CST.
