Solid Defense Leads Wildcats to Win Over Phoenix
MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Wildcats dropped out of the NAIA Division I Coaches Top 25 Poll Wednesday for the first time this season. To the surprise of some, Bethel received only one vote as a matter of fact and is ranked at No. 47.
The Wildcats had the opportunity to regain some respect and momentum hosting No. 20 Cumberland University Wednesday night and with a strong defensive effort they did just that.
After a scoreless first period the Cats scored on a goal by Justice Nmeregini at the 65:52 mark. That would stand up and the Cats took a 1-0 victory.
The Wildcats had a 17-11 margin in shots and a 3-1 advantage in shots on goal.
Bethel improved to 7-2-1 and 2-1 in MSC action. Cumberland fell to 5-2-1 and 1-1-1.
The Cats return to action Saturday traveling to Pulaski to face UT Southern with action beginning at 4:30 p.m.
