Cats Remain Unbeaten with Win over CBU
MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The No. 12 Bethel Wildcats remained unbeaten and moved to 3-0 on the season with a 1-0 victory over Christian Brothers Thursday night at Wildcat Stadium. The Bucs dropped to 2-1 on the year.
The Wildcats took the lead at the 20:38 mark of the first period on a goal by Sergio Baguena. Pascal Mohungsi was credited with the assist. It was Mohungsi's fourth assist on the season.
That goal would be the only score in the game.
CBU had a 15-9 advantage in shots on goal. The Bucs had a 11-4 margin in shots on goal. Bethels' Norberto Lima Vieira recorded ten saves in the match.
Coach Malang Jarju said the match put his team to the test. "This was a really intense match which helped us test our strength. Our togetherness helped us achieve the victory. Our attack showed our versatility and our defense held up well for the most part. We are happy with the win and happy for Sergio even though he missed a penalty kick. It was the second game in a row he has scored and hopefully he can keep that going. We will prepare for Texas A&M Texarkana who will be a difficult opponent, but we are home, and we need to keep a clean sheet."
The Cats return to action Saturday hosting Texas A&M Texarkana at 4 p.m.
Tickets are not required but fans are urged to wear masks and follow social distancing methods.
