No. 10 Cats Win at Hannibal LaGrange
HANNIBAL, Mo. -The Bethel Wildcats traveled to Hannibal, Missouri Saturday for a match against the Hannibal LaGrange University Trojans. The No. 10 Wildcats moved to 2-0 on the year with a 2-0 win over the home team. HGL dropped to 1-2 on the season.
The Wildcats moved out to a 1-0 lead with a goal at the 32:33 mark of the first period by Sergio Baquena. Don Obare was credited with the assist. That goal would be the only score of the first period. HLG had a 7-6 advantage in shots, but Bethel had a 2-1 margin in shots on goal.
Less than a minute into the second stanza, the Wildcats took a 2-0 lead on a goal by Moutaga Sall. Alphonso Gooden had the assist. The match would end with the two-goal victory by the Cats.
The teams each had 13 shots in the game. Bethel had a 6-4 margin in shots on goal. Bethel's Norberto Lima Vieira recorded four saves.
The Wildcats return to action Thursday night playing host to Christian Bothers University. Action begins at 6 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium.
