Late Scores Hand Soccer Cats Dramatic Win at Life University

MARIETTA, Ga. – The Bethel Wildcats remained undefeated with a dramatic 3-2 win at Life University Tuesday night.

The Wildcats led 1-0 at the end of the first period. Pascal Mohungsi scored with just 2:50 left in the period. After two second period goals by the Eagles, the Cats appeared to be jeopardy of losing for the first time on the season.

The Wildcats would not de denied however as Brian Mbauni tied the game at the 4:43 mark. Alphonso Gooden was credited with the assist. On an assist by Mohungsi, Sergio Baguena scored what proved to be the game winner with just 1:57 left.

Bethel outshot the Eagles 16-14. The Cats had a 10-5 advantage in shots on goal. Norberto Lima Vieira recorded three saves.

No. 23 Bethel improved to 4-0 and 3-0 in the MSC. Life fell to 3-6 and 2-5. Bethel leads the all-time series between the two at 3-0.

Coach Malang Jarju said, "My boys never gave up and they never give in. This is a sign of a championship team and I am really proud of their effort and fighting until the very end.

The Cats travel to (RV) Campbellsville Sunday. Action begins at 3:30 CST.
