Bio

Jonathan Stanley is entering his 14th season overall as an assistant with the Bethel University Men’s
Basketball program.

Stanley started his coaching career at McKendree University where he served as an assistant from 2004- 07. He coached NAIA Division I First Team All-American post player Mike Strobbe who led the nation in rebounding. While working directly with Coach Harry Statham, member of the NAIA Basketball Hall of Fame with 1,122 wins, Stanley contributed to the team advancing to the 2007 NAIA National Tournament and making it to the Sweet Sixteen. Stanley was an assistant coach at Roane State Community College from 2007-09. He provided extensive on court coaching that improved overall individual skill development of players while also implementing individual strength and conditioning programs. Stanley came to Bethel from Pfeiffer University in Misenheimer, North Carolina. Serving as an assistant coach, he assisted with building a team offense that led Division I and Division II in scoring with 103 points per game. While there, he coached Division II First Team All-Region and All-American nominee Chris Woods. He also assisted the coaching staff in game preparation by conducting individual film breakdown, editing game film, and implementing overall game plans. Stanley earned his bachelor’s degree from McKendree University in 2005 and received his masters degree at Bethel University in 2012. As a player at McKendree University, Stanley contributed to the team advancing to the NAIA National Tournament in the 2003-04 season. During his playing career, Stanley played for some of the best coaches in the profession. At McKendree University, he played for Harry Statham who set a record during the 2004-05 season earning his 880th win to become the all-time winningest coach in college basketball history and became the first coach at a four-year institution to reach 900 wins in 2005. Stanley played for Randy Nesbit at Roane State who was a former Southern Conference Coach of the Year at The Citadel. Also, Stanley played one season at Tusculum College under Griff Mills (former Peach Belt Conference DII Coach of the Year). Originally from Knoxville, Tennessee, Stanley graduated from Bearden High School in 1998 where he played for Coach Mark Blevins while becoming an All-District and All-Region player. He resides in Martin, Tennessee, with his wife Robbie and five children: Brayden (15), Kaydence (13), Camden (11), Tatum Elaine (4) and Jonathan Windham (2).
