Cats Fall to Cumberland University in MSC Quarterfinals

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Mid-South Conference Men's Basketball tournament began Sunday, with three quarterfinal games. It continues on Monday with two semifinal games and concludes on Tuesday with the championship game. All games are being played at Studle Financial Arena on the campus of Bowling Green High School.

Cumberlands (Ky.) is the top seed in the 2025 Tournament.

The fifth seeded Bethel Wildcats fell to No. 4-seeded Cumberland University 79- 68 and saw their season come to a close at 16-12.

The Wildcats led 38-34 at the half but CU scored the first seven points of the second half and never relinquished the lead.

Bethel struggled from the field shooting just 34 percent. The Cats were 5-of-19 from behind the arc.

Cumberland had a 48-26 margin in points in the paint. The Phoenix shot 50 percent from the floor. CU had a 45-43 advantage in rebounds.

Trevor Chatman and Chauncey Hughes III led Bethel with 13 points each. Ethan Turner had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Demarius Boyd led the Phoenix with a game high 21 points. Four other CU players scored in double figures.  

 Cumberland (13-15) advances to the semi-finals to meet Cumberlands. They will meet at 5 p.m. on Monday.
