Cats Go Down but Not Without a Fight

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The No. 6 seeded Bethel Wildcats fell to the No. 3 seeded Georgetown Tigers 80-70 Saturday night in the quarterfinals of the Mid-South Conference Men's Basketball Tournament in Bowling Green. The Wildcats trailed by 16 at the half but battled back and gave the Tigers all they wanted and more in the second half. 

The Tigers jumped out to a 13-2 lead in the first four minutes of the game. Georgetown extended their margin to 17 at 28-11 halfway through the half. The Wildcats cut the deficit to ten on a couple of occasions, but the Tigers went to break leading 43-27.

Georgetown extended their lead to 19 early in the second half but the Wildcats outscored the Tigers 16-3 in the first seven minutes and trailed 48-43 with 13 minutes left. Bethel kept the pressure on the Tigers on a layup by Querrion Gadson trailed just 50-47 with 11 minutes left.

The Tigers kept the Cats at bay, however outscoring Bethel 30-23 to win by ten.

The Wildcats shot 47 percent from the floor and hit two three-pointers in the game. Bethel was 6-of-15 from the foul line. GC shot 52 percent and hit six three-pointers. The Tigers hit 20- of -30 free throw attempts. Bethel had a 32-30 rebound advantage.

Gadson led Bethel with 23 points. Jose Nazario had 12 points. Jabrion Spikes led GC with 23 points.

Bethel finished their season 14-15 while Georgetown moved to the semi-finals at 22-6.
