Bethel’s Gadson is Second Team All-Conference Selection
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - The Mid-South Conference 2023-24 Men's Basketball Awards were announced Friday.
Bethel's Querrion Gadson was named to the MSC 2nd Team. The senior from Sallis, Mississippi led the Wildcats during the regular season averaging 16.7 points per game. He was second in rebounding pulling down 5.4 boards per outing. Gadson had the complete year leading the Wildcats with three assists and two steals per game.
Cumberlands' (Ky.) Jonathan Brown was named the MSC Men's Basketball Player of the Year while Tajahri Cave is the Randy Vernon Defensive Player of the Year. Lindsey Wilson's Kenyata Carbon (Ky.) earned MSC Freshman of the Year honors.
Cumberlands' Matt Daniel was voted the MSC Coach of the Year by his peers while Freed-Hardeman's (Tenn.) Grant Burns earned Assistant Coach of the Year honors.
Brown started in all 27 games for the Patriots while averaging a team-high 14.4 points per game. He shot 42.7 percent from the field while averaging 3.3 rebounds per game and three assists a game. Brown has scored 20 or more points four times this season with a high of 25. His 14.4 points per game rank fourth in the conference.
Cave totaled 29 steals, 24 rebounds and four blocks this season in 27 games. Offensively, he is shooting 64.1 percent from the field and is averaging 3.7 points per game.
In his freshman campaign, Carbon appeared in all 26 games making 18 starts while averaging 17.5 points per game. He is shooting 54.1 percent from the field and is averaging 5.7 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game. Carbon scored 20 or more points in 10 games and had 30 or more in two games with a high of 31.
Daniel led the Patriots to a 25-3 record and a 10-2 record in the MSC and a share of the regular season title. Cumberlands is currently ranked No. 7 in the NAIA Men's Basketball Coaches' Poll.
Burns helped lead the Lions to a 24-4 record and a 10-2 conference record and a share of the conference regular season title. Freed-Hardeman is the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament and ranked No. 5 in the NAIA.
Ten players were named to the first team while five players earned second team honors.
