
Cats Capture 1st Conference Win Saturday at Lindsey Wilson
COLUMBIA, Ky. - The Bethel Wildcats met Lindsey Wilson in Columbia Saturday and were looking for their first conference win of the season. They did just that with a strong second half, outscoring the Blue Raiders 35-29 to win 65-61.
Bethel trailed 32-30 at the half but balanced scoring and a strong defensive effort allowed the Cats to win.
The Cats shot 41 percent and hit 16-of-23 free throw attempts. Bethel had a 41-37 rebound margin. Both squads committed 18 turnovers in the game.
LWC shot 35 percent and was 15-of-21 from the charity stripe.
Connor Guthrie and Querrion Gadson led Bethel with 11 points each. Tyler Neely and Kendan Maddox each scored 10 points. Brennon Marsh scored six points and had a team high eight rebounds. Justin Evans and Ethan Turner came off the bench and produced. Evans finished with eight points while Turner had seven points.
Bryce Brown led Lindsey with 12 points.
Bethel moved to 1-2 in the league and 12-7 overall.
The Blue Raiders dropped to 9-8 and 1-2.
The Wildcats took a 4-3 lead in the all-time series.
The Cats will be back in action Thursday hosting No. 6 University of the Cumberlands. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m. CT.
The Pats are 17-1 and 3-0 in league action.
