Wildcats Host Cumberland University on Senior Night

MCKENZIE, Tenn. - The Bethel University Wildcats return home Thursday to face Cumberland University at 7:30 p.m. The regular season finale will see senior ceremonies take place before tip-off.

The Wildcats had hoped to bounce back at Wilberforce Saturday afternoon but a poor second half was the undoing of the Cats as they fell to the Bulldogs, 96-82. The game was tied at 42 at halftime but the home team outscored the Wildcats 54-40 in the second half.  Bethel was led by Querrion Gadson who had a game high 33 points. Gadson also had four steals in the contest. Jose Nazario finished with 16 points and a team high nine rebounds. Tyler Neely tossed in 13 points for the Wildcats.

The Cats dropped to 13-12 overall and 9-11 in the MSC. Bethel is 8-5 at home on the season and 120-48 all-time in the ten-year history of Crisp Arena.

The Phoenix sport a 13-13 overall mark and a 9-11 conference slate. CU is 3-8 in road action on the season. CU is coming off an 80-77 loss to Georgetown. The Tigers hit a shot at the buzzer to win. 

After leading 38-33 at the half, the Wildcats were outscored 37-21 in the second half at Cumberland earlier this year and loss to the Phoenix 70-59.  The Wildcats shot 53 percent in the game (24-45) but hit only seven of 20 free throw attempts. Bethel finished with four made three-pointers. The Phoenix shot 45 percent (26-57) from the floor. CU made four three-pointers and hit 14 of twenty free throw attempts. Bethel committed 21 turnovers and were outrebounded 37-27. CU had a 27-17 advantage in points off turnovers. Keyshawn Kennedy and Yassine Zlitni led Bethel with 11 points each. Connor Guthrie finished with 10 points. Tajah Fraley had a game high 18 points for the Phoenix.

Querrion Gadson leads the Wildcats in scoring at 14.3 points per game.

Brennon Marsh leads the Cats in rebounding pulling down 4.8 boards per game.

With his 506 wins, Coach Jeff Britt is 10th in the nation in victories by an active coach.

The Wildcats are 120-48 all-time in the ten-year history of Crisp Arena.
