Cats See Winning Streak Snapped at Shawnee State

PORTSMOUTH, OH- The Bethel Wildcats saw their winning streak snapped at four Saturday at Shawnee State, falling 94-83 to the Bears in Portsmouth.

The Wildcats trailed 44-34 at the half.

Both squads had high scoring second half efforts with SSU outscoring the Wildcats 50-49.

Bethel finished shooting 49 percent (29-59) from the floor. The Cats knocked down seven treys and were 18-of-25 from the free throw line.

SSU shot 50 percent (33-65) from the field. The difference in the game was Shawnee's three-point shooting as they hit 13-of- 25 attempts from deep. The Bears were 15-of-20 from the charity stripe.

SSU won the battle of the boards at 32-26.

 Querrion Gadson had a game high 29 points for the Wildcats. Tyler Neely had 15 points while Latrell Carter tossed in 11 tallies. Brennon Marsh had a team high nine rebounds.

Five Shawnee players finished in double figures with Brandon Beavers leading the Bears with 20 points.

Bethel dropped to 12-8 and 8-7 in the Mid-South Conference.

SSU moved to 14-7 and 10-5. The Bears have won nine of their last ten games.

The Wildcats are back home next week. They host the University of the Cumberlands Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and the No. 15 Georgetown Tigers Saturday at 3 p.m.
