Wildcats Win Three in a Row

McKenzie, Tenn.- Coming off  back-to-back wins against a receiving votes Cumberlands (KY) team and a Campbellsville team, the Bethel Wildcats hoped to make it three in a row Saturday afternoon inside of Crisp Arena facing off against the Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders. The Cats are 118-46 all-time in Crisp Arena and 6-3 on their home court this year.

The Bethel Wildcats went into action today trying to redeem themselves after an earlier loss in the season to the Blue Raiders. The Wildcats and Blue Raiders were neck and neck for most of the second half. Keyshawn Kennedy had three consecutive trips up the floor that led to huge baskets and a big steal under the eight-minute mark which helped the Wildcats go up eight points with six minutes to play. With under four minutes to go, the Wildcats went up 11 points and then a three-point dagger with a minute left by Connor Guthrie put the game out of reach for the visiting Blue Raiders. The Wildcats finished off the Blue Raiders with a final score of 92-83.

It was a well-balanced scoring effort for the Cats. Latrell Carter led the way for the team finishing with 19 points and grabbing three rebounds. Guthrie finished the game with 13 points, three assists and three steals. Tyler Neely had 14 points, grabbed eight boards, dished out four assists and had two steals. Keyshawn Kennedy also had 19 points for the Wildcats.

Jamie Strong led the way for the Blue Raiders with 15 points, all from beyond the arc.

With the win, the Wildcats moved to 11-7 overall and 7-6 in the Mid-South Conference. The Blue Raiders fell to 6-12 overall and 2-11 in the conference.

Coach Jeff Britt had the following to say:

"I am extremely proud of the heart our guys are continuing to show on the court. Their effort in the last three games have been outstanding. We are continuing to make strides in the right direction. I was happy to get this win today, especially after our performance in Columbia earlier this season. I believe this shows how much we have improved since then. I look forward to going up against a talented Pikeville  team next week as well as a tough Shawnee State team."

The Wildcats will be back in action next Thursday at 6:30 p.m. facing off against the Pikeville Bears. Be sure to keep up with the action with the links below:
