Wildcats Tame Bulldogs
MCKENZIE, Tenn. – In the first of two final games before the holiday break the Bethel Wildcats met the Wilberforce Bulldogs in a MSC match-up in Crisp Arena Thursday night.
The Cats tamed the Dogs with a 96-61 victory. Bethel moved to 8-5 overall and 4-4 in the league.
Wilberforce dropped their fifth in a row and dropped to 1-12 and 0-8.
Bethel moved to 117-45 all-time in Crisp. The 96 points were a season high for the Wildcats. It was the 501st career victory for Coach Jeff Britt.
The Cats shot 60 percent from the floor hitting 41-of- 68 shots. Bethel commanded the boards with a 37-21 rebound advantage. The Wildcats had a 56-30 margin in points in the paint and a 27-12 advantage in points off turnovers.
Connor Guthrie has a season high 20 points. Jose Nazario followed with 16 points. Keyshawn Kennedy finished with 13 tallies. Latrell Carter tossed in eight points, pulled down six rebounds and had five assists. Tyler Neely had a solid line with nine points, four rebounds, five assists and a game high four steals. AJ Burnett had nine points. Querrion Gadson had a game high eight rebounds. He also dished out three assists and had three steals.
Cali Davis had a game high 24 points for Wilberforce.
Coach Britt commented, "Our kids played hard. I thought our bench was good tonight. Wilberforce presses and plays very scrappy and aggressive. We will need a very focused effort and bring our A game on Saturday."
The Cats have a short turnaround with a home game Saturday playing host to No. 2 Thomas More at 3 p.m.
