
Second Half Cost Cats in Loss at No. 24 Cumberland
LEBANON, Tenn. – After leading 38-33 at the half, the Bethel Wildcats were outscored 37-21 in the second half at No. 24 Cumberland University Saturday and loss to the Phoenix 70-59.
The Wildcats shot 53 percent in the game (24-45) but hit only seven of 20 free throw attempts. Bethel finished with four made three-pointers. The Phoenix shot 45 percent (26-57) from the floor. CU made four three-pointers and hit 14 of twenty free throw attempts.
Bethel committed 21 turnovers and were outrebounded 37-27. CU had a 27-17 advantage in points off turnovers.
Keyshawn Kennedy and Yassine Zlitni led Bethel with 11 points each. Connor Guthrie finished with 10 points.
Tajah Fraley had a game high 18 points for the Phoenix.
The Wildcat dropped to 7-5 overall and 3-4 in the MSC.
Cumberland moved to 7-5 and 4-3. The Phoenix have won seven in a row in the series.
The Wildcats are back in action Tuesday traveling to Martin for an exhibition at UTM. Tip-off is slated for 11 a.m.
