
Cats Host Bears on Senior Day
MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Wildcats will close out their regular season and honor their seniors Saturday when they play host to the UPIKE Bears at 4 p.m. in Crisp Arena. Ceremonies will take place before tip-off.
The Cats have dropped two in a row after their 73-71 home loss to Cumberlands Thursday night. Bethel has lost eight of their last ten and enters the game at 12-16 overall and 4-16 in the MSC. After a tough loss at Freed-Hardeman Thursday, the Bears arrive in McKenzie at 15-12 and 8-11. UPIKE has dropped three straight.
Bethel is 5-9 at home this season. The Cats are 114-42 all-time in Crisp Arena. The Bears are 4-6 on the road this year.
It will be the only meeting between the two during the regular season as the scheduled game on January 24 in Pikeville was cancelled.
It will be the fourth meeting between the two since 2015. The Bears have a 2-1 advantage in those games. The most memorable game between the two came in March of 2015 when the Bears topped the Cats 94-86 in the first round of the NAIA National Championship in Kansas City.
Kamron Rose had a team high 18 points against UC giving him 999 career points with 543 of those in a Wildcat uniform.
Jarred Walker had 17 points, three assists and three steals. Walker became the 31st member of the Wildcat 1,000-point club earlier this month. He finished the game with 426 career assists which is 11th all-time in program history. He has 223 career steals which is second in program history.
Jon Brown who is out for the season with an injury was averaging 10.5 points per game. Rose leads Bethel in scoring averaging 11.9 points. Jamarius Mayberry pops in 10.0 points per game.
The Wildcats average 74.5 points while giving up 72.5 per game.
The Bears average 76.5 and give up 68.1 per game. Maurice Dickson leads the Bears averaging 10.3 points per game.

His record as a head coach is 493-345 and includes 11 seasons with 20-plus wins. He currently ranks 10th for most wins among active NAIA Division I men's basketball coaches. Britt is 387-302 at Bethel.
Tigh Compton is in his second season as head men's basketball coach for the University of Pikeville in 2021-22. Compton is 27-24 with the Bears.
