Bass Cats Add to Their Legacy

MCKENZIE, Tenn. - The Bethel Bass Fishing team has qualified a total of five teams/ten anglers to fish in the Major League Fishing National Championship to be held in January 2024. Those Bethel student anglers qualified are as follows: Hunter Filmore, Dylan Forgarty, Anthony Cicero, Joseph Woods, Chase Mulholen, Koltyn Harbin, Coleman Self, David Gummow, Hunter Shelton, and Colton Drawdy.

Coleman and David are freshmen who qualified by finishing in eighth place out of more than 250 plus boats on Lake Hartwell in South Carolina this past Oct 27. Not too bad for a couple of Bethel young guns.

Hunter Shelton, Colton Drawdy, Chase Mulholen, and Koltyn Harbin also qualified during the MLF tournament at Hartwell. Dylan Forgarty and Hunter Filmore finished in 15th place during the event and had already qualified for the nationals in a previous MLF college tournament.

The MLF Collegiate National Championship Tournament will be held in January on Lake Toho in Florida.

"We are so very proud of these ten Bethel Anglers. Each one of them has represented our school and our program with professionalism and pride at every opportunity and they each certainly deserve to fish in the national championship," said Head Bass Fishing Coach Garry Mason.

"Bethel University is ranked in ninth place going into the National Championship by ACA rankings,"  said Mason. Once again all of our Bethel student anglers are helping to continue to contribute to the legacy of Bethel University being one of the top fishing programs in America to date," said Mason.
