Bio

Troy Brewer begins his 2nd season serving as the Defensive Line Coach / Director of Strength & Conditioning / Equipment Operations for the Wildcats in 2023-24. Native of  Memphis, Tenn.  He has been in the coaching industry for over a decade.

In (2022), recognized on Football Scoops Minority Coaches Watch List. Brewer oversaw the defensive line that helped the Wildcats post a 11-0 record and Mid South Conference Championship. The Wildcats Defense allowed 12.6 points per game in scoring defense, ranking number seven nationally in NAIA. In his first season, the Wildcats defense improved from 186 yards per game to 105 yards per game. Ranked nationally in the top 15 total yards per game. The defensive line totaled 229 tackles, 54.5 tackles for loss and 14 sacks. Under his mentorship Darel Middleton and Nick Andrews earned All Mid-South Conference Honors.

(2021) served as a Defensive Graduate Assistant (defensive line) at Harding University. During this time, Harding reached the NCAA Division II national playoffs and claimed the Greater American Conference (GAC) Championship. The defense only allowed 12.8 points per game in 2021, which ranked seventh nationally in Division II. Harding only allowed 60.9 yards per game, which ranked second nationally in Division II. He mentored defensive linemen Isaako Faagai and Nathaniel Wallace to All-GAC honors in 2021.

Brewer went to Harding after one season (2020) at Brighton High School where he worked under California Hall of Fame Head Coach Mike David. Brewer was the Cardinals' Defensive Coordinator and head strength and conditioning coach. Brighton finished the season as Region 8-5A runner-up and advanced to the second round of the Class 5A state playoffs. Brewer's defense averaged 2.3 sacks per game, allowed just 58.3 rushing yards a game and forced 2.3 turnovers per game.

Before Brighton, Brewer spent four seasons (2016-2019) at Centennial High School under Matt Kriesky. He coached the defensive line and also served as the head strength and conditioning coach. In 2016, the Cougars took home the Region 7-5A championship and finished the season as a Class 5A state semifinalist. Three of Brewer's defensive linemen earned All-Region 7-5A honors - Nick Bell (Dayton), Connor Tremayne (Morehead State) and All-State performer Eli Katina.

Brewer spent one season (2015) as the head strength coach and Co-Defensive Coordinator at Holt High School in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

Brewer’s coaching career began at Oakland High School, where he was an assistant defensive line coach for two seasons (2013-2014) under Coach Thomas McDaniel. During his time at Oakland, the Patriots appeared in the Class 6A state quarterfinals and semifinals and won the Region 4-6A championship. While at Oakland, Brewer mentored Anthony Akers (Tennessee Tech), Kevin Prather (UT Martin), Josh Smith (Vanderbilt), Ty Nix (MTSU) and Justice Dingle Jr. (Kentucky).

Brewer is a 2012 graduate of Lane College with a degree in education. As a walk-on at Lane starting 29 out of 30 games in his career.
