Bio

Chris Springer is in his seventh season at Bethel University in a defensive coordinator
capacity while also serving as associate head coach and recruiting coordinator.
Springer helped Bethel University to a 11-0 regular season and capture the Mid-South
Blue Grass Conference Championship in 2022 while also making a playoff appearance.
The Wildcats defense finished the regular season top ten in the nation in multiple
category’s including scoring defense (12.3ppg), pass defense (152.2ypg), defensive
takeaways (25), interceptions (16ints), third down defense while also finishing top 25 in
multiple others. The Wildcats where able to hold top ten opponents on the road to an
average of 12.6 ppg. Coach Springer helped mentor Brandon Moore to finish as a
finalist for the Cliff Harris award which is presented to the top small school defensive
player in the nation. Moore was also named to the NAIA All American team. Moore
led the nation in passes defended while hauling in three interceptions. Springer helped
mentor Bethel's great Devious Christmon who was named first Team All Bluegrass his
senior year as a defensive back. Christmon also went onto to receive a rookie mini
camp invite with the Indianapolis Colts (NFL) and finished his career as one of the all-
time school leaders in interceptions.

The Wildcats were 7-4 in 2021, finishing 4-3 in the Mid-South Conference and 2-1
against opponents ranked in the top eight in the country. The Wildcats led the
conference in total pass defense and pass defense efficiency. The Wildcats defense
was also able to finish top ten in the nation in third down defense and defensive
takeaways.The Wildcats were 5-5 in 2019. The Wildcats defense finished fifth in the nation in
defensive takeaways with 27 total. Springer helped Bethel University capture the Mid-South Blue Grass Conference Championship in 2018 while going 10-0 during the regular season. The Wildcats secondary led the MSBGC with 18 interceptions, and aided the Wildcat defense’s tenth-ranked pass defense efficiency in the nation. The Wildcats were able to finish number one in the nation in defensive takeaways with 37 total. The Wildcats finished the season 29th in total and scoring defense.

Springer came to Bethel University before the 2017 season and helped lead the Bethel
defense to a improve in total defense, scoring defense, pass/run defense while finishing
third in the nation in defensive takeaways with 26 total. Springer spent the prior spring
season at Georgia Military College. The previous three seasons he served as
cornerbacks coach (2016) and a defensive assistant (2014/2015) at Western Kentucky
University (2014-16). Springer helped WKU to a combined 31 victories, including a pair
of Conference USA Championships and three consecutive bowl wins, during his tenure
with the Hilltoppers.

Springer got his coaching start in 2013 at Eastern New Mexico University, where he
oversaw the wide receivers for one season. With Springer on staff, ENMU had its first
winning season since 2004 and secured their first LSC conference title since
1991. Springer played at both Bethel and Lindenwood University where he was a four
year letterman while also serving as captain as a defensive back. Springer graduated
from Lindenwood in 2013 with a Bachelors degree in Physical Education and later
earned a Masters degree in Sports Recreation and Administration from Western
Kentucky University in 2017. Springer is  native of Bartlett, Tennessee and resides in
Lexington, Tennessee with his wife Megan Springer and daughters Chandler and
Sydney Springer.
