Bethel’s Joaquin Collazo III Named Second Team AP All-American

MCKENZIE, Tenn. – Bethel University quarterback Joaquin Collazo III has been selected to the Associated Press NAIA All-America team, AP officials announced on Friday. Collazo was named to the second team.

Collazo helped the Wildcats capture the MSC regular season title while throwing for 3,331 yards -- which led the MSC and ranked second in the NAIA. He ended the regular season throwing for 29 touchdowns in 12 games. Collazo's touchdowns rank fifth in the NAIA while his 279.7 yards per game are sixth in the country. He also caught one touchdown this season.

Coach Michael Jasper commented on the award. "This is another great accolade for a phenomenal young man in our program. Joaquin is everything you want in not just a quarterback but a leader. He is selfless, places the team first, and in doing so has gotten some much deserved recognition. I'm excited to see what all we accomplish next year and the honors he receives as a result of his hard work and contributions to not only our program, but to Bethel Athletics as he serves on the ASA committee."
