Bethel’s JD Dixon Becomes All-Time Leader in Receiving Yards

MCKENZIE, Tenn. – With his ten receptions and 165 yards against Pikeville, Bethel's JD Dixon rewrote the record books in career receiving yards.

The sophomore from Waverly Central High School in Waverly, Tennessee passed former Wildcat great, Quincy Walden who held the record with 1, 577. Dixon now has 1, 579 receiving yards in now only his sophomore season.

Dixon led the MSC Bluegrass Division and ranked sixth in the NAIA with 1,116 receiving yards last year.   He averaged 101.5 receiving yards per game with 14 touchdown receptions -- which also led the Bluegrass Division. Dixon became just the second Wildcat ever to ever have 1,000 yards or more receiving in a single season. His 14 touchdown receptions are the second best in program history for a single season. He was named to the 2021 NAIA Honorable Mention team.  Dixon was named the Mid-South Conference Bluegrass Offensive Freshman of the Year. He was also named to the MSC Champions of Character team.

Dixon has 457 yards on 20 receptions this season. Six of those receptions have been for touchdowns. Dixon is averaging 114.3 yards in receiving per game. He has over 100 yards in receiving in three of Bethel's four games this year. He had 85 in the other game.

The Wildcats are 4-0 and ranked No. 13 in the nation. The Cats travel to No. 8 Georgetown Saturday. Watch for Game Notes on the game later at www.bethelathletics.com
