Big Awards for Bethel as MSC Baseball Honors Announced

 

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - The Mid-South Conference announced the 2024 MSC Baseball honors on Wednesday.

Cumberlands' (Ky.) Charlie Muniz was named the MSC Player of the Year while teammate Cesar Avila earned Pitcher of the Year honors. Bethel's Jared Hall was named the MSC Freshman of the Year.

Bethel's Rusty Thompson was voted the MSC Coach of the Year while Cumberlands' Jared Martin earned Assistant Coach of the Year honors.

Muniz leads the Patriots with 30 home runs and 83 RBIs. He is batting .370 (71-of-192) and has a slugging percentage of .880 which leads the team. Muniz leads the conference in RBIs and home runs. His 30 home runs rank first in the NAIA.

On the mound, Avila has compiled a 10-0 record in 66 innings pitched. He has an ERA of 2.80 while allowing just 16 earned runs. Avila has issued just 21 walks while recording 95 strikeouts. He leads the conference in wins and ERA and ranks second in strikeouts.

Hall is hitting .431 (66-of-153) in his freshman season for the Wildcats. He has tallied three home runs and has driven in 41. Hall's .431 batting average ranks second in the conference.

Thompson led the Wildcats to a 30-12 record and a 10-8 mark in conference play and the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament.

Martin helped lead the Patriots to a 44-6 record and 17-1 MSC record and the regular season championship.
