
Wildcats Close out Series with Win over Georgetown
MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Wildcats closed their series against Georgetown Saturday with an 8- 5 win over the Tigers. The teams split their doubleheader played on Friday.
Georgetown scored a run in the first to grab a 1-0 lead.
The Wildcats tied the game on a Juan Diego double in the bottom of the third.
The Cats took a 2-1 lead when Noah Hawkins scored on a Tiger error in the fourth.
The Tigers took a 3-2 lead when Joshua Duarte slugged a two-run homer in the fifth.
Bethel's Adriel Vega tied the game with an RBI in the bottom of the fifth. Zach Griffith put the Wildcats ahead 5-3 with a two-run homer later in the inning.
In the sixth inning, Diego homered to up the Wildcat margin to 6-3.
Duarte homered again in the seventh to make it 6-4.
The Tigers scored a single run in the eighth to cut Bethel's margin to 6-5.
The Cats countered with two runs in the bottom of the eighth. Ivan Vega drove in Bryan Catala with a single. Noah Foster singled in Zayden McCaslin to give the Wildcats an 8-5 lead and victory.
Bethel outhit the Tigers 14-10.
Lucas Smith picked up the Bethel win. Alexis Rodriguez was credited with the save. Chad Baker was charged with the Tigers loss.
The Wildcats improved to 23-8 and 4-5 in the MSC.
The Tigers dropped to 19-13 and 5-4.
The Cats return to action Tuesday at Oakland City. The single game begins at 4 p.m. CT.
