Strong Pitching, Triple Play & Grand Slam Highlight Cat Sweep

MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Wildcats won their 10th in a row with a 4-2, 7-1 sweep of visiting Briar Cliff University Saturday afternoon in McKenzie. The twin bill featured strong pitching, a game ending triple play and a grand slam.

The Wildcats won game one in dramatic fashion, turning a triple play to end the game and claim a 4-2 win over the Chargers. It is the first time in program history the Cats have ended a game with a triple play.

Juan Diego had an RBI double in the first to give the Cats a 1-0 lead. Adriel Vega had an RBI double in the sixth. Jose Olmeda followed with a two-run double in the inning. The triple followed after Briar Cliff had scored two runs in the seventh.  Tyler Procter pitched well and was the winner while Tristian Seputis had the big save. The Wildcats outhit the Chargers 8-5.

Game two saw Noah Foster drive in two runs. Ivan Vega drove in a run. The big blow was in the sixth with Jose Olmeda hitting a grand slam. Luke Boswell had another solid outing and picked up the victory.

Bethel moved to 16-2 while the Chargers dropped to 5-6. 

The teams play a single game on Sunday at 1 p.m.
