
Bat Cats Close Out Regular Season with Win & Sweep of Campbellsville
MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Wildcats closed the regular season Sunday with a 9-8 win over the visiting Tigers of Campbellsville University. The win was the fourth in a row for the Wildcats. Bethel has won five of their last six.
Campbellsville took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second.
The Wildcats answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning. Kendrick Osborne and Bryan Catala had RBI singles. Osborne scored on a Tiger error.
Bethel extended their lead in the fourth to 6-2. Joseph Hufstedler scored on a Campbellsville error. Jake McDaniel drove in two runs with a single.
A four run fifth and a two run sixth gave the Tigers an 8-6 lead.
In the bottom of the sixth the Cats tied the game. With Jose Olmeda on base, Ivan Vega drilled a two-run homer to tie the game at 8-8.
The game remained tied until the eighth. Noah Foster drilled an RBI double to left center to score Zayden McCaslin. McCaslin was running for Jake McDaniel who had led off the inning with a single.
Bethel outhit the Kentucky visitors 13-9.
Ryan White was the winner for the Wildcats while Alexis Rodriguez picked up the save.
The Wildcats are 17-28 overall and 12 -15 in the MSC. Campbellsville is 21-24 and 13-14 in the league.
The Cats will play next in the MSC Tournament which begins next week. Bethel travels to Thomas More Friday.
