Baseball Cats Lose Slugfest at Cumberlands

WIILIAMSBURG, Ky. – The Bethel Wildcats and the No. 12 University of the Cumberlands Patriots found themselves in a wild offensive shoot-out Friday afternoon in Williamsburg.   The game featured 29 runs, 31 hits, five doubles, seven home run, 12 runners left on base and 12 walks. Unfortunately for the Wildcats the seven home runs came off the bats of the Patriots.  

Trailing 3-0 the Wildcats scored two runs in the third inning to cut the UC margin to 3-2.  The Cats put nine runs on the board in the fourth to lead 11-2. UC responded with three runs of their own in the fourth. The Pats scored two runs in the fifth and regained the lead at 12-11 with a four run seventh.  The Patriots iced the game away with a six run eighth to win 18-11.

CU outhit the Wildcats 19-12.

Ivan Vega, Aidan Morris and Kendrick Osborne drove in two runs each for the Wildcats. Bryan Catala had three RBI's. Jake McDaniel drove in one run. 

Alexis Rodriguez suffered the loss while Joe Bertram picked up the win for the Pats.

Bethel dropped to 8-18 overall and 5-7 in the MSC. UC moved to 22-4 and 9-3.

The Wildcats travel to CBU Tuesday with action beginning at 1 p.m.
