Bat Cats Take Series Beating UPIKE

MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Wildcats and the UPIKE Bears closed out their three game MSC weekend series Saturday in McKenzie. It was the rubber match between the two after splitting their two games Friday.

The Wildcats outhit the Bears 8-3 enroute to a 4-1 win.

The Bears took a 1-0 lead in the first.

Bethel's Jose Olmeda drove in Aiden Morris reaching on a fielder's choice in the second. J T Morgan put the Cats up 2-1 with an RBI single in the inning. Joseph Hufstedler scored the go ahead run.

After Noah Foster reached on an infield single in the eighth, Ivan Vega gave the Wildcats insurance runs with a two-run homer.

Tyler Proctor was superb going eight innings allowing just three hits and one run. Alexis Rodriguez shut the Bears down with a 1, 2, 3 ninth inning.

The Wildcats moved to 8-14 and 5-4 in the MSC. The Bears dropped to 8-14 and 2-7.

The Wildcats will be back in action Tuesday playing host to Christian Brothers University. Game time will be 2 p.m. or 3 p.m. A decision on the game will be announced soon. The game will be played at the McKenzie High School field. Wildcat Park suffered recent wind damage. There will be live stats only for the game.
