Cats Outslug Mighty Oaks

MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Wildcats outhit the Oakland City Mighty Oaks 14-5 enroute to a 10-6 victory at Wildcat Park Tuesday afternoon. On a near perfect weather afternoon, the Cats scored four runs in the first and three in the second to set the tone for the game. Bethel added three more runs in the fourth to ice the game away.

Oakland City had pushed across four runs of their own in the first. All four runs were scored with two outs in the inning. The Oaks scored two runs in the fifth.

Ivan Vega got the Cats on the board with an RBI single in the first. Bryan Catala followed later in the inning with a three -run homer.

Adriel Vega had an RBI triple in the second. Ivan Vega and Catala followed driving in single runs in the inning. 

It was more of the same in the fourth when Ivan Vega slugged a two-run homer. Catala came home later in the inning when Adriel Vega was hit by a pitch.

Briar Fischer picked up his first collegiate win for Bethel.  Alexis Rodriquez was credited with the save. Christian Burgrade suffered the OCU loss.

Bethel moved to 5-11 on the season. The Mighty Oaks suffered just their second loss and dropped to 15-2.

The Wildcats travel to conference foe Thomas More Friday and Saturday. The teams play a single game Friday at 1 p.m. and a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 11 a.m.
