Cats Take Game One of MSC Opening Series

MCKENZIE, Tenn. – After moving the series back several times due to rain, the Bethel Wildcats and the Shawnee State Bears finally were able to play the first game of a three game MSC set Friday night at Wildcat Park. The wait paid off for the Cats as they beat the Ohio visitors 6-2.

Bethel moved to 3-10 overall and 1-0 in the league. SSU dropped to 1-11 and 0-1.

The Wildcats scored two runs in the third, three runs in the sixth and a single run in the eighth. The Bears scored single runs in the fifth and sixth.

Bryan Catala and Ivan Vega each drove in two runs for the Cats. Adriel Vega and Noah Foster drove in single runs. Foster led the Cats in their 12-hit attack with three hits.

Ryan White picked up the Wildcat win. SSU committed six errors in the game. 

The Wildcats and Bears will play a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
