Bethel’s Marco Santa Hurls No-Hitter
MCKENZIE, Tenn. – After splitting their doubleheader Friday, the Bethel Wildcats and the Cleary Cougars met again Saturday playing a twin bill at Wildcat Park.
The storyline of game one was Bethel righty Marco Santa. The senior ace hurled an 89-pitch no-hitter to lead the Wildcats to a 2-0 victory.
Bryan Catala had an RBI double which was followed by an RBI single by Kendrick Osborne in the fourth. That proved to be all Santa and the Wildcats needed for the win.
Jacob Savina was the hard luck loser for the Cougars allowing just four hits to the Wildcats.
Game two saw a late rally by the Wildcats fall short allowing the Michigan visitors to gain the spilt. Trailing 5-0, the Wildcats had single RBI's by Catala, Ivan Vega, Jose Olmeda and J T Morgan in the sixth but the Cats came up a run short.
The Wildcats outhit the Cougars 7-6. Luke Boswell suffered the Wildcat loss.
The Wildcats finished the day at 2-6 while Cleary travels home with a 4-2 mark.
Bethel remains at home for the Annual Civil War battle hosting Olivet Nazarene in doubleheaders Friday and Saturday. Action begins both days at noon.
